| Requirements and Responsibilities For Industrial Design Manager |
| Manages the daily operations of a team responsible for designing and developing industrial product concepts and specifications that balance aesthetic, functional, and manufacturing requirements. Oversees research into product use, user preferences, and market trends to inform design direction. Ensures the translation of user insights and business requirements into sketches, prototypes, and CAD models that effectively communicate design concepts. Collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, suppliers, and other stakeholders to deliver product designs that meet safety, manufacturability, quality, schedule, and cost objectives. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in industrial design. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes. |
