Requirements and Responsibilities For Assistant Ophthalmic Technician
Assists with providing technical services to patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history and conducts visual acuity screenings. Prepares patients for exams and procedures. Takes measurements and documents exam results. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. May dispense contact lenses. Requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). Typically reports to a manager. Years of experience may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.
